— "[M]y daughter, sitting on her bed with the television on, iPod earbuds firmly implanted, her laptop showing one window with a school report beside a browser window open to Facebook, several instant messaging alerts flashing at the bottom of the screen, and her phone vibrating, signaling a text message. Can she really study with all these distractions?" (Rosen, 2010, p. 2).

"Wikipedia’s ease and popularity presents an issue that is paramount in using the Internet as a student research tool—media literacy. As part of a larger topic, Wikipedia stands as the foremost example of why we need to teach students how to evaluate the information that they gather online. Prior to the Internet’s rise in popularity, student research was done in the library using printed reference material. The World Wide Web changed the thinking and actions of students. Why drive to the library when you have multiple libraries at the click of a button? What we need to do is simply accept that the information students are going to use is electronic rather than printed and teach them how to analyze its accuracy through effective critical thinking" (Rosen, 2010, p. 42)
